Flag Football

Welcome to our Football Family!

The Kenosha Youth Football League is the largest flag football program in SE Wisconsin with the 2026 season being our 13th season! Our flag football program consists of co-ed teams, with 5 different playing levels (based on age), for kids aged 5-14yrs (current high schoolers excluded).

NEW FOR 2026 - An opportunity to play more competitive flag football, travelling to other TCYFL member communities (not more than 45mins away).

Our legacy in-house flag league will continue to have games played on Saturday afternoons locally, while travel flag games will be played on Sundays throughout Lake County, IL (with one game day hosted in Kenosha). Depending on the registration numbers, travel flag teams may require tryouts as there will only be 1 team per age division. Both leagues will play a 6 game regular season, with week 7 being for playoffs.

What aged players are appropriate for this program?

Spring Flag Football is for all girls and boys, ages 5-14yrs old (no current high schoolers).

When

What time of the year does this program run?

Flag football occurs in the Spring with key dates as follows:

In-House Flag

1st practice will be 4/23/2026
1st game will be 5/2/2026
Last game of the season will be 6/13/2026

Travel Flag

1st practices will be week of 4/6/26
1st game will be 4/12/2026
Playoffs/Championship Games will be 5/24/26
All-Star Games will be 5/31/2026

Where are practices and games typically held?

Practices

When are practices and how often are they?

In-house flag practices will be every Thursday from 5:30-7:30PM.

Travel flag practives will be TBD based on coach's availability.

Games

How many games will they play? What days of the week?

In-house flag will run for 7 weeks with all games held on Saturday.

Travel flag will run for 7 weeks with all games held on Sunday.

Jerseys

Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?

In-house flag participants will be provided an NFL Flag jersey, belt and flags.

Travel flag participants will be provided a custom flag jersey, belt and flags.

Extra Costs

What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?

Included in registration are:

NFL Flag jersey OR custom game jersey
Belt and flags

Note: In prior seasons, a soft helmet was required for play. After 2 seasons of feedback from parents and players, we will no longer require helmets be worn by players.

The following items may be purchased - these items are optional and not required to play:

NFL Coordinating Team Swag such as arm sleeves, headband, socks and/or gloves.
